The first objective best budget manual around?
I am a student looking to buy an SLR. I'm overvelmed with housings on ebay, but we all know is the objective of the most important in terms of image quality. This is usually a good first lens high (55mm or less)? Canon FD a f1.8, F1.4 FD, Pentax etc etc etc ????. not trying to break the bank here. Just look for a target of good budget choice for my slr easier
"The purchase Orphans in the FD and MD mounts is a waste of time and money in my opinion." Whoa, whoa .... slow down here! It .. a very bold statement!. I currently own several 35mm SLR cameras, different brands and many glasses, and I can say that Canon lenses are FD superb!. My Canon A-1 with the Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 is one of the best camera and lens combo I can think of. Personally, I like manual focus lenses more recent than lenses autofocus, they are solidly built, strong as hell and do not cost the earth. I can not use the FD lenses with my old Canon DSLR, it's true .. But in truth ... I want to keep for my camera!. (No hard feelings about that comment, I assure you) .. : O) If you plan to buy Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 then that comes with most SLR lens is a lot better!, The f/1.4 is even. If you are considering so if Pentax you can find a good "Spotmatic" (these usually come with a Takumar 1:1.8 / 55) then you'll be spoiled for choice with the M42 mount lenses. My Spotmatic is one of my favorite cameras. I took a Olympus OM10 (with adapter manual) and a large 50mm f/1.8 Zuiko Aim for £ 13 on eBay .. It is ideal for a student to learn and it does not cost a bomb.
