Sony Nex 5A camera. How do you zoom? Even the extra lense E 18-55mm doesn't seem to zoom in any better than?

a 3X zoom?? Please help!!
All I want to do is to be able to sit in the bleachers at a football game and get a decent close up shot of my son playing. Can this camera, with the extra lense being a 18-55mm lense perform this action?

When you say "extra lens", do you mean you got another lens besides the standard 18-55 mm?

What is the other lens?

Did you know that 3x, 4x, etc no longer matters when you buy a camera that can use interchangeable lenses? I have two 2x lenses I use on my dSLR, one is a 12-24 mm and the other is a 200-400 mm. As you can see, the zoom range has nothing much to do with how the lens performs. 12-24 mm for shooting landscapes and 200-400 mm for shooting sports, action and wildlife.

You need to start thinking in focal lengths, not zoom ranges

If you want a one lens solution for shooting your fine new camera, look for something like the 18-200 mm zoom
