What is a good film slr camera for photography (not video)?
I currently own a Nikon D90 and I'm use to digital photography. However, I would like to try film photography. What is a good camera to use for film photography? The camera can older. I've heard of a couple brands (Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Pantax, Holga, Diana), if you could explain which one is best.
You can go with an older Nikon, and still use the lenses with the D90.
Almost any Nikon lens will work with any Nikon camera. The oldest lenses won't mount on the newer cameras, and the newer G lenses won't work on the older cameras. With a D90, you'd have to go with manual exposure with the older lenses. The DX lenses won't work without some vignetting. That still leaves you with plenty of options.
Holga and Diana are "toy" cameras, plastic lenses, low quality, but they create a unique image.
For manual focus, an F3 with MD4 drive is great, or an FE2, FM2.
For autofocus the 8008, 4004, F90 are good.
If you want top quality metering and super fast autofocus, the F5 is a Great Deal. They run around 300-400 on ebay. Incredible camera, great metering and 8 FPS. New, the F5 was around 2,000.
