Camera Suggestions? Help!?
What are some good SLR cameras that are good quality (12-14 mpx) but not too pricey (I know that SRLs can be really expensive, so lets say under 300)? If there aren't any less pricey ones, are there any good digital cameras that are 12-14 mpx that aren't too expensive?
Let us start with Megapixels just to clear the harmful information that was instilled in your brain. Megapixels tell you the SIZE of the picture, NOT the quality. Companies use the fact that the majority of the people buying cameras DO NOT know this and they think that more MP= Better quality. Its a marketing gimmick and fallacy. More megapixels is not better. For small point and shoot cameras, it is actually worse since you are jamming the sensor FULL of megapixels to the point where its basically over flowing.
Now to your budget. To get a New DSLR camera, you will have to spend about $600 for a starting-off-setup, This includes the camera, a lens, a bag, Memory cards, and possibly a photography book in terms of the camera you chose.
The two cameras that fit this budget are the Canon Rebel Xs and the Nikon D3000- both very good caemras.
You cannot get a used DSLR for $300, well, you can, but it would be very old and probably in bad condition. DSLR cameras are not cheap. My Nikon D40, used, without a lens, in okay condition will run you about $350+ and this camera has been discontinued for 2 or 3 years now.
Lets move on the point and shoot cameras. You will not get the same quality as a DSLR, I hope you know this
