difference between an SLR and SLR style camera?
I know it sounds silly bit us there a big difference in photo quality? I can't afford even a second hand SLR atm, and it's only for my a-level photography, I have a digital that is 8.1mp but I want a camera that gives better image quality, will an SLR style do this? I want more professional, clear photos so I get higher grades. I mainly want to do documentory photography and fashion/portraits, thanks!

SLR = Single Lens Reflex means that you're seeing thru the lens that is taking the picture. This is my personal favorite for framing shots.
However, it doesn't make the pictures any sharper. You can change lenses on most SLR cameras, which can augment your creativity.
8.1-mp is very good --- “The more mega pixels the better the picture”, is half-truth.
If you have a crappy lens with a high mega pixel camera --- you still get a crappy picture. Go with a camera that has a good lens. Kodak cameras are respected for their Schneider lenses. Zeiss and Leica lenses are very good.
